Ben Savage rose to fame while starring as Cory Matthews on the ABC sitcom Boy Meets World, which first aired in 1993. His performance on the show was so noteworthy that he received multiple nominations for the Young Artist Awards and YoungStar Awards. Now, the actor seems to be celebrating a different kind of success. On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, Savage seemingly announced that he and girlfriend Tessa Angermeier are engaged. “The best is yet to come,” he writes on Instagram. What sparked the engagement speculation? The post includes a photo of the duo smiling in front of a lake in Owensville, Indiana, and Angermeier is shown sporting a diamond ring on her left ring finger.
Even though the former child actor didn’t directly state that he had proposed, friends and family shared congratulatory messages in the comments section. Danica McKeller, who starred in The Wonder Years with the actor’s brother, Fred Savage, writes, “Congratulations!! 😍😍😍.” Fellow actress Arielle Kebbel comments, “❤️❤️❤️.” “Congrats!!!!!! 🍾,” Emmy-winning correspondent and producer Katie Krause Mork shares.
Although the couple hasn’t specified exactly when they started seeing one another, their first social media appearance dates back to October of 2018. For the most part, Savage has kept his personal life under wraps, but he has posted more about his relationship with Angermeier recently.
This past December, Savage shared a glimpse into his relationship with his girlfriend and how they celebrated the holidays. On December 29, 2022, Savage shared a photo of himself and his girlfriend enjoying the festivities at Kant Brewing Co. in Fort Branch, Indiana. “At the brewery 🍻,” he captioned the image. A few days earlier, he posted another snap in honor of the holiday season, with the duo all dressed up in Los Angeles, California. “Hope you had the hap hap happiest Christmas,” he wrote. The actor also posted on December 13, 2022 an image of the couple in front of a car with the caption “Tis the season.”
After starring on Boy Meets World, which lasted for seven seasons, the star reprised his role 14 years later in the spinoff, Girl Meets World. Savage’s former co-stars, Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong, and Will Friedle, have a rewatch podcast called Pod Meets World. The group told Us Weekly that they’ve been talking about the idea since 2019. At first, Savage was a part of the project, but he ultimately passed on the idea. “At the end of our conversations, Ben said, ‘I just don’t think it’s for me,’” they reflect. “So, we’re respecting his decisions, and if he eventually wants to come on, we’ll leave that door open.”
