Ben Platt and Noah Galvin are officially taking their relationship to the next level. On November 25, the actors announced that they’re engaged. The Pitch Perfect star and the Booksmart actor both posted about the romantic proposal on Instagram, revealing details about who popped the question and what the recipient's brand-new gemstone ring looks like.
Platt was the one to get down on one knee, and he popped the question at the Laser Wolf Brooklyn, where he was surrounded by floating candles, autumnal floral arrangements, and plenty of twinkle lights. “He agreed to hang out forever 💕,” Platt’s Instagram caption says. Galvin commemorated the milestone by posting similar photos from the proposal. “I said yeehaw and then cried for like 7 hours 🫂,” he writes.
Many celebrities infiltrated the comments section and shared congratulatory messages to the newly-engaged duo. “These pics 🥹🥹🥹🥹,” Hilary Duff comments. “Wow!!! Congrats!!!” Mindy Kaling gushes. “😍😍😍😍,” Sarah Hyland writes.
As for the engagement ring, it appears that Platt presented Galvin with a yellow gold band that features an emerald-cut center stone, presumably a diamond. Platt shares a closeup look at the unique ring as part of his Instagram post.
Platt and Galvin's romance followed an interesting path: In November of 2017, after Platt stepped down from his role as Evan Hansen in the Tony Award-winning broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen, Galvin assumed the role as his replacement. From there, the two developed a fast friendship, which ultimately turned into a romantic relationship a few years later. Galvin confirmed that the two were dating in May of 2020 when he appeared on an episode of the Little Known Facts with Ilana Levine podcast. The People We Hate at the Wedding star told Kelly Clarkson in June of 2021 how their relationship developed, according to People. “Right before the pandemic, we finally decided to really give it a shot,” he explained. “We kind of skated around it for a long time.”
That same year, Platt discussed to Out magazine that having Galvin as a partner makes him appreciate life more. “[Galvin] has a really unique ability to help me to be present where I am and to make the life that’s happening day to day too wonderful to not want to be on the ground for it,” he said the publication.
In May of 2022, the broadway star celebrated the Good Doctor actor’s birthday with a sweet Instagram post. “Happy birthday my guy,” he wrote. “You're the most special gift the universe has ever whipped up. Thank goodness you were born. I love you so much."
