Barack and Michelle Obama have reached a huge milestone in their relationship. The power couple celebrated 30 years of marriage on Monday, October 3, 2022. To commemorate the occasion, both partners posted touching messages on their social media accounts.

On his wedding anniversary, the former president shared a series of photos on Instagram, including a sweet shot of the pair posing on the beach, a snap of the couple’s names drawn in the sand enclosed in a heart, and a throwback photo of the two on their wedding day. “Miche, After 30 years, I’m not sure why you look exactly the same and I don’t,” he joked on Instagram. “I do know that I won the lottery that day—that I couldn’t have asked for a better life partner. Happy anniversary, sweetheart!”

The former first lady also expressed her love for her husband on Twitter. “Happy anniversary to the man I love!” she gushed. “These last 30 years have been an adventure, and I’m grateful to have you by my side. Here’s to a lifetime together. I love you, @BarackObama!” She posted the heartfelt message along with a side-by-side photo of the pair smiling on the beach and on their big day.

The political powerhouses first met in 1989 in Chicago when Barack was a summer associate at Michelle’s law office. Three years later, they tied the knot on October 3, 1992, in the state where they first crossed paths. The two are parents to Malia and Sasha.
