Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is one-year-old! We still can't believe Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially became parents a year ago and to celebrate the royal baby's first birthday, we're looking back at some of Archie's cutest moments.
Archie was born on May 6, 2019 and in just 12 months, this baby has already met some pretty phenomenal milestones. For starters, he's a world-traveler (he's already spent time in Africa, Canada and the United States, just to name a few), a friend of human rights activist Desmond Tutu (yes, this is true) and is just downright adorable (check out their Christmas card if you don't believe us!). The royal tot is growing fast—and is looking more like his father every day!
From his royal debut to intimate moments with Mom and Dad, we gathered every photo from Archie's first year of life. Warning: Cuteness overload ahead.
His Royal Debut
Cradled in his father's arms, baby Archie made his world debut two days after his birth. Unlike his royal cousins, (Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis), Archie made his first appearance at Windsor Castle because Meghan and Harry opted to give birth at Portland Hospital instead of the royally-favored Lindo Wing.
Meeting the Queen
As a royal baby, one of your first orders of business is to meet the Queen! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex introduced their young son to Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, shortly after Archie's birth. Queen Elizabeth looked overjoyed meeting her eighth great-grandchild!
Meghan celebrated her first Mother's Day as a mom just six days after Archie was born. To make the exciting occasion, Meghan shared a sweet shot of her holding her newborn's tiny toes because honestly, what is cuter than baby feet?!
A Precious Father-Son Moment
Our hearts are melting just looking at this moment between Archie and Prince Harry. The royal parents shared the candid shot to celebrate Prince Harry's first Father's Day. His eyes, his hands, his head—this photo captures Archie is all his adorable newborn glory.
Christening with Mom and Dad
Like several royal babies before him, Archie suited up in a replica of the Royal Christening Robe for his christening on July 6, 2019. Meghan and Harry chose to keep the ceremony private but they did release this intimate image following the occasion. Taken just two months after his birth, this photo proves Archie is really growing fast!
Posing with the Royal Family
Newly-christened Archie also posed with his extended family at Windsor Castle. The christening occurred in front of 25 family friends and the family portrait featured Prince Charles and wife Camila, Duchess of Cornwall; Prince William and Kate Middleton; Princess Diana’s sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes; and Markle's mother Doria Ragland, as well as Meghan, Prince Harry, and baby Archie.
Three Generations of Windsors
The Duke and Duchess celebrated Prince Charles's 71st birthday in November 2019 with a photo from Archie's christening. We can't get enough of the way Prince Charles and Prince Harry are admiring Archie in this moment!
Archie spent a July afternoon hanging out with his mom, his aunt, Kate Middleton, and cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, at a charity polo match that Prince Harry and Prince William were participating in. While Archie spent majority of the afternoon in Meghan's arms we can't wait until he is old enough to run around with his big cousins!
His First Royal Tour
Archie's official royal duties began at just four-months-old when he accompanied his parents on their royal tour of South Africa.
Smiling for the Camera
The photos of Archie in Africa proved that the baby is the spitting image of his father, Prince Harry. Between the red hair and his smile, the youngster is looking more like his royal dad every day!
Celebrating the New Year
The royal baby definitely stole the show in the family's year-end Instagram video. He spent his first New Year's Eve with his parents in Canada and this loving father-son shot proves the family spent a lot of time lakeside this past winter. But the real question is, where can we get Archie's adorable winter hat?
To commemorate Archie's first birthday on May 6, 2020, Meghan and Harry shared a video of them reading Duck! Rabbit! to their young son. The three-minute-long video was full of baby giggles, kisses and even duck sounds (Prince Harry gave his best duck impersonation from behind the camera!).
