Anna Faris Is Engaged

Were Anna Faris and boyfriend Michael Barrett the first celebrity couple to get engaged this proposal season? After the actress was spotted wearing a massive diamond ring in November, it sure seems like it.

In photos obtained by TMZ, Faris was seen rocking a yellow cushion-cut diamond surrounded by a diamond halo. Set on a white gold or platinum diamond-crusted band with a subtle split shank, Kathryn Money, VP of Strategy & Merchandising for Brilliant Earth, estimates the ring to be worth somewhere between $25,000-$50,000.

Sure, plenty of celebrities have worn rings on that finger even without an engagement. However, something about this sighting makes us believe that wedding bells might really be in the air for Faris and Barrett. After all, that is a pretty fancy piece of jewelry to pair with a t-shirt, baseball cap and jeans for a day of running errands!

Three months after the engagement, Faris's new bling finally made its Instagram debut! She showed off her yellow rock in a post with actor Jason Biggs, whom she interviewed on her podcast. And thanks to this close-up, the ring is bigger than we thought!

We aren't surprised by Faris's choice in diamond, as colored stones are definitely a trend on the rise—especially among celebrities (i.e. Kate Middleton, Katy Perry, Blake Lively, the list goes on!). The ring is, however, quite different from the actress's previous engagement rings. Faris was married to Ben Indra from 2004 to 2008 and most recently, to actor Chris Pratt from 2008 to 2018. While still gorgeous, Pratt proposed with an oval diamond on a metal band—much more understated than the bling she is rocking now!

Barrett, a cinematographer, and Faris were first linked in 2017 and have even gone on double-dates with Pratt and his now-wife Katherine Schwarzenegger.

In January 2020, two months after engagement rumors sparked, Faris's Mom co-star Allison Janney confirmed the actress's engagement, telling Us Weekly, "I know she’s been engaged for a long time. I kept it very quiet, I’ll have you know! So, I celebrated with them a long time ago.” She also revealed that Faris wanted to keep the entire engagement casually, not even giving her costars a formal announcement. "I didn’t know he was going to propose, but I saw the ring one day. I went into her room to work on lines [for the show], and then I was like, ‘What is that ring on your finger?’ … I think she was waiting for everyone to notice. ‘Oh, that’s it,’ and then… yeah, it was fun.”
