Week after week, reality stars Yara Zaya and Jovi Dufren bare their souls to fans the world over on season 8 of their hit TLC series, 90 Day Fiancé. The couple’s most private moments of love, loss, and heartbreak have been documented for all to see, with seemingly no topic off limits. This week’s episode, which is set to air on Sunday, January 24, at 8 p.m. EST, will certainly be no exception, as we get insight into another big crossroads in the couple’s relationship: a potential second pregnancy.
"After first pregnancy, when I had miscarriage, the doctor tell me that probably, for me, will be so hard to get pregnant again." Zara says in an exclusive sneak peek of the clip. "I’m [scared] if I am pregnant, just like, to being caring about somebody, it’s so big responsibility. Which I am not ready for."
We also see the Ukraine-born bride-to-be expressing doubts about her relationship with Jovi. "I honestly even don’t know if he wants to settle down with me and not going to party all the time. It just make me feel crazy.”
With rumors now swirling of a wedding and a child for the couple, Brides sat down for a Zoom interview with the twosome to get the scoop straight from the source. While they kept their current relationship and family status under wraps for the sake of the show ("Tune in Sunday!"), they opened up about plenty else, including their dream wedding (complete with dress details!), Zara's engagement ring and more. Read on for all the juicy details.
What do you envision your dream wedding to be like?
Jovi: See, for me I want to have a huge wedding, a big party with a lot of people and I feel like we’re on a complete different page. [She's like, 'let's] sign some documents.'
Yara: So the point is always, I never want to be so much rude, [like], 'let’s [go] and spend [money].' This is one of the important things. [If it's] a small wedding with just Jovi and me, that’s awesome.
Many couples that are getting married now are choosing to have a second ceremony with an extended guest list—if you were to the knot now, would you do the same?
Jovi: Absolutely! One reason is because if we were to get married now, it’s impossible to have our dream wedding—I [want to] do this on a beach, have a wedding somewhere, have Yara's family, on a beach ... I would love to do that."
Yara, what does your dream dress look like?
I will probably choose something nice and class—nothing too over-the-top. I just want to look like [a queen!]. Nothing too sexy.
Tell us about choosing the ring!
Jovi: It’s probably one of the weirdest situations and oddest stories, choosing the ring. We found out about the [miscarriage] while we were in Croatia. [We] were both feeling really upset. [But then we] started to plan the wedding—maybe we'll do it. Three hours [later, we were wedding ring shopping].
So the ring was almost something that brought you closer together in that difficult moment?
Yara: “I think so. It was something [that] put us in a better mood, since I was so much [emotional]. [There was] some promises of, 'you will not leave.' ... My ring is absolutely perfect and not expensive, nothing special designer. It's round. We have promise [that when] Jovi get rich, he will buy nicer ring!”
Jovi: It’s not like I bought you a $100 ring! It’s a nice, simple ring.
What do you appreciate most about each other?
Jovi, joking about a clip from a previous episode: I don’t know. Yara had a nice body.
Yara: Jovi is so nice. He’s so kind. He is so good with my family, he love my sister’s kids ... [he's] a really good person.
Jovi: For me, whenever I chose Yara, I just considered a lot of things—She’s the type of woman I do want to be my future wife [and] do want to be the mother of my child. I wanted to make sure …to have someone with those qualities. [She's very] family oriented [and] similar to me in that aspect.”
You guys have also been through several memorable fights, including one over sleeping over at Jovi's mom's house. How has that relationship progressed?
Jovi: Yara meeting mom for the first time, if that didn’t go well ... if that didn’t go well, there’s no way we get married—it had to go at least decently. My parents had a lot of skepticism and things like that."
Yara: For me ... I was always gonna meet Jovi’s mama. I want to have a nice [meeting]. It's not comfortable for me [to sleep over]. When I was small, I never sleep at my friend’s house, either.
Jovi: I think her relationship with my mom has progressed. These people aren’t just gonna meet each other and be best friends. It's getting better.
Yara: When I meet, [I'm like], 'This is my kind of person.' I’m not playing game with people. I will not fake to your face. I feel like she’s my person. She is cool, she is funny—I really like her."
You can catch Jovi and Yara’s episode of "90 Day Bares All" streaming now on discovery+.
How have you changed each other?
Jovi: I've matured. Yeah, honestly, when I first met Yara, I was traveling a lot—she really toned me down a bit. She changed the way I was. I realized I was falling in love [and] I needed to change my ways and be ready to settle down. My life has changed completely,180. [I’m] doing great.”
Yara: I realized that I am really generous person—I never did it for nobody.
What do you hope fans take away from your time together on the show?
Jovi: I hope the fans can see how much trouble [we go through to be together]. People don’t understand how much effort it takes to make this long-distance relationship [work]. It’s very hard, and most people don’t understand that.
Yara: I love Jovi. Why [else] would you move to the other side of the world? ... I’m not a gold digger—I am working since I’m 15 years old. I would have found somebody more rich! I would found some old doctor.
What other couples from your season do you think will make it down the aisle?
Jovi: “I think Brandon and Julia might make it. I think Julia sacrificed a lot, to another level. For me, if they made it through that they’ll [make it].
Yara: “I am Julia and Brandon, she lives so much for that. They’ll make it work.
