THEIR STORY

Music played a key role in Alicia and Sungjin's courtship and a poignant part in their August 2007 wedding. The Manhattan pair met as teenagers at a Julliard music program—she was there for violin and he for piano. While neither of them pursued music professionally, they each performed meaningful songs for the other at their wedding reception. "I was really reluctant to perform," admits Alicia. "But afterward I realized it was one of the highlights. It was a tribute to how we met and what we have in common."

The couple opted for a traditional wedding at the Carltun at Eisenhower Park on Long Island with a classically elegant white, cream and pink decor. Alicia and Sungjin also paid homage to their families' heritages by incorporating Chinese and Korean customs. Alicia wore a white strapless Jenny Lee dress for the ceremony and later changed into a traditional Chinese wedding dress and then a Korean gown during the reception. She even wore a fourth dress to cut the cake—a simple Jenny Lee lace gown. What was it like to wear four dresses in a day? "It was a little tiring to change so many times. But I felt like a princess!" —Kathy Ehrich Dowd
