Beth and Andrew did not set out to have a green wedding. But it was a natural solution to the San Francisco couple's wish to incorporate their personal beliefs into a traditional-style wedding. "We didn't throw this wedding to make a statement," says the bride. "We were just creating a formal wedding that still reflected how we live our lives normally—organic living, prosocial decisions and environmental consciousness while still enjoying the finer things in life."
Both the ceremony and reception took place on the grounds of the Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa. in order to minimize transportation. The menu contained a selection of organic and locally grown food, as well as vegetarian options. A eucalyptus branch motif was used on stationery at their wedding because it reminded the couple of the smell of the groves that surround their home in Presidio National Park.
At the end of the reception, every flower that remained was donated to a local hospice in Lehigh Valley. "To us, the eco-friendly decisions we made for the wedding were the least we could do to keep a bit of our personalities in a very formal wedding," says the bride. —Cari Wolfert
