THEIR STORY

Annie and Nick wanted to be surrounded by friends and family on their wedding day, and the rolling lawn extending down to the water at Nick's grandparents' New England home was the perfect setting. They planned an event that would allow guests to enjoy the scenic locale as much as possible, with an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, a tented dinner and dancing and dessert under the stars.

The couple's event planner, Newport–based David Price, worked with the local firm Stoneblossom Floral & Wedding Design on the event. At the bride's request, the bridesmaids' bouquets and the arrangements at the cocktail hour were composed of dahlias and garden roses in bright orange and pink.

In a tent pitched on the grounds, guests dined on a meal of halibut and sirloin steak by Newport's Blackstone Caterers, accompanied by wines chosen by Annie's brother, a sommelier in a tent pitched on the grounds. All of the flowers in the reception tent, including hydrangeas, garden roses, calla lilies and dahlias, were in shades of white and cream. “It was really nice for us to look around and see all of our friends enjoying this party we planned,” Annie says. —Brenna McLoughlin
