This pretty save-the-date card, created by Soolip, an L.A. stationer, is easy to make yourself with any word-processing program. You can buy the necessary materials (paper, glue, a paintbrush, dried flowers) in an art-supply or crafts store either locally or online.

Keep the info as simple as the card itself: Include your name and the groom's, your wedding date, where the celebration will be taking place, and your wedding Web site, if you've got one.

1. Type your information, centering each line. On the card below, MetroLite #2 was used for the body font and Shelley Volante for the names; myfonts.com. The ink color was brown. Leave space at top for flower.

2. Print on notecard-size paper, such as this soft-white, deckle-edged variety by Arturo (paper.com). Have extra paper for test runs.

3. With a paintbrush, apply a thin layer of watered-down glue such as Elmer's to the top of the card and attach a dried, pressed flower like this red daffodil (createforless.com).

Alternative 1: Instead of the flower, paint a simple shape like a swirl or heart at the top of the card using slightly watered-down craft glue and a watercolor brush. Sprinkle mica flakes (misterart.com) in your favorite color over the glue.

Alternative 2: Instead of the flower, attach colored translucent paper (called vellum) to the card by punching a hole in both the card and vellum using an ⅛-inch hole punch (paper-source.com); tie with waxed twine (soolip.com).
