Awbury Arboretum is a wedding venue located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are in Northwest Philadelphia and home to the historic Cope House. The house features a wrap-around porch, Victorian full-length windows, landscaped gardens and covered bluestone patio. Awburys mission is to connect their community with nature and history.

Facilities and Capacity

The Cope House has a beautiful covered patio with views of their well-kept landscaping. The outdoor space can accommodate up to 175 guests. The indoor space can accommodate 50 guests. Awbury Arboretum has a secret garden couples can escape to and take some wedding photos.

Services Offered

The Cope House and grounds are perfect for your ceremony, and cocktail hour. Guests can walk the property and wander through the gardens. The parlor rooms in the house are where your guests can hit the dance floor. With a variety of indoor and outdoor accommodations, the Awbury Arboretum can be used just the way you want to bring your wedding vision to life. Awbury has an exclusive catering partnership with Birchtree Catering, a business that focuses on local sourcing and sustainable events. Their catering services are available to your event. Birchtree Catering provides a day-of coordinator and facility host to help run your big day so you can sit back and relax. Awbury can host your engagement party, bridal shower, elopement, ceremony, reception, and rehearsal dinner. They allow use of the foyer, parlor, reception room, porch, covered patio, restrooms, audio system, preparation areas, and their lawn and gardens. Awbury gives you access to 55 acres of beautiful scenery to take photos and explore.

History

Awbury Arboretum was purchased by a Quaker shipping merchant, Henry Cope in 1852. It was home to the Cope family and named after the village the family originated from in England. Awburys grounds were landscaped in the 19th century with advice from horticulturist William Saunders and the designer of the National Cemetary at the Gettysburg Battlefield. The Cope family wanted to preserve the space the make it a quiet area for people to enjoy the wonders of nature so the Arboretum was established in 1916. Then in 1985, the Awbury Arboretum Association was established as a nonprofit organization tasked with promoting the well-being and the space.
