On-Premise

Banquet halls, country clubs, restaurants, and other sites where food and beverage services exist in-house; hiring an outside caterer is usually not permitted.

Off-Premise

Art galleries, mansions, private homes, and other sites where food and beverage services don't exist in-house; an independent caterer must be hired.

All-Inclusive

A package that includes food, beverages, tax, and tip in the price; extras like bartenders, bathroom attendants and valets may not be included.

Plus-Plus

A package in which tax and gratuities are added on to the original food-and-beverage price. This figure may skew your whole budget, so don't ignore it.

Turning (of a room)

The resetting of a room for another function; applies when the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception are held at a single site.

Setup

Assembly of items such as tents and rented tables.

Breakdown

Dismantling of items such as light fixtures and tents.

Century Tent

Frame or pole tent with one or more peaks.

Frame Tent

Tents supported by a frame and free of center poles; also known as a clear-span frame tent.

Pole Tent

Supported by center poles down the middle, and quarter poles around the perimeter; works for backyards but not asphalt or rock gardens.
