Alternative Bachelorette Party Ideas

If the thought of donning a veil and stumbling through a haze of bars for your bachelorette party sounds so "not you," we've got some other ideas, straight from the brides who enjoyed them.

Glamping in the Poconos

New Yorker Madeleine, 31, wanted her bachelorette party to be laid-back. Like a weekend in a Poconos mountain cabin, perhaps? Sure. But Madeleine, who works for Eileen Fisher corporate, was quick to clarify: They weren't "roughing it."

To take some of the planning pressure off her maid of honor, Madeleine suggested her friends hire her wedding planner to help with the arrangements. "We ate organic wild-caught salmon, not canned beans," Madeleine explains. "It was definitely glamorous camping."

The weekend mingled hikes in the woods with lychee martinis, along with plenty of downtime to give her friends, who were from different phases of her life, the chance to bond before the wedding.

"We didn't have cell phone reception at the cabin," says Madeleine. "We were able to turn off our lives and focus on each other."
