How many hours of playing time are included in a typical contract? How much time is needed for setup?
How will special requests from the guests be handled? The band should have a big enough repertoire that most songs can be performed; a DJ should have a large enough collection to play pretty much anything.
How are breaks handled? DJs usually don't need them. Bands, however, do have to rest. In some cases, band members rotate breaks so the stage is never empty. Other times, recorded music is played while the band breaks.
Do you have backup equipment on hand? Technical problems do happen, and DJs, because they use more specialized equipment, are especially vulnerable.
What will you be wearing to the wedding? You want to be sure that the entertainers look as spiffy as your guests.
