The Original Margarita
If you want to serve this tangy Latino lubricant con sal, moisten the outside of the glass rim with a lime wedge, then dip it into a saucer of salt. Tap it to remove any excess.
1 oz. Cointreau orange-flavored liqueur
2 oz. tequila
Juice of 1 lime
Slice of lime
Coarse salt (optional)
Combine Cointreau, tequila, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a margarita glass with or without ice. Garnish with lime.
