Ashley and Tim in Vancouver, WA

Autumn colors set the tone for a relaxed outdoor wedding

After the ceremony, the guests retreated to a large white tent to dine on a buffet of Oregon bay shrimp and pasta salad, herb grilled chicken breasts and locally grown fruits and vegetables.

Ashley always knew she wanted to get married at her parents' home in Vancouver. So when Tim proposed to her in front of their families, the couple immediately chose the lush front yard of Ashley's family home as the setting for the comfortable, elegant event.

The pair married in early September, finding inspiration in the rich colors of autumn by selecting a palette of deep purple and burnt orange. "I wanted it to be romantic without being overly done," says Ashley. The detail-oriented couple incorporated the colors into every element, from the aubergine bridesmaid dresses to the orange Asiatic-lily aisle runners. And Mother Nature couldn't have been more cooperative-the warm light of the setting sun coordinated perfectly with the afternoon ceremony.

For the reception, the couple opted for a relaxed buffet under a white tent, decorated with understated orchid centerpieces and a stylish ice-sculpture vase. An espresso bar helped to keep conversations lively, and the couple entertained guests with a choreographed cha-cha performance to "Cupid" by Sam Cooke. As they departed, guests received another reminder of Ashley's and Tim's creative talents: a CD of the couple's favorite music, including “I Will Treasure You,” a song Tim created especially for his bride.
