Alexandra and Andrea in New York, NY

Manhattanites host a bash in black—and hot pink

Following the ceremony, Andrea and Alexandra posed for photographs in Brooklyn, with the Manhattan skyline in the background. The bride wore a strapless A-line gown with a pearl necklace from the groom's aunt, as well as diamond earrings given to her by his grandparents.

From the moment New York marketing specialist Alexandra Gruneberg discovered her engagement ring—hidden inside a chocolate egg—she knew she'd incorporate creative, unexpected elements into her wedding. Her fiancé, Andrea Dionisio, is a broadcast designer, so they pooled their talents to personalize the event, starting with their chosen wedding colors: hot pink and black. "Pink is my favorite," she says, "and black is quintessential New York." The bold hues jazzed up everything from the ceremony programs to table runners to maids' dresses.

After a Catholic ceremony, the reception was held at trendy Manhattan restaurant Pipa. The couple had planned for dancing after dinner, but guests hit the dance floor early, between courses. "It was spontaneous and fun!" says Alexandra, who danced the tarantella with her groom, in honor of his Italian heritage. "I wanted a wedding that wasn't on an exact timetable so that we, and our guests, could just relax."
