Shannon and a friend designed the wedding programs on a computer. The bridal party spent a part of the "bachelorette weekend" tying each program with green ribbon.
Shannon and David in Houston, TX
A resourceful bride creates her dream wedding without wasting a dime
Shannon and David were both students when they discovered that they shared a desire to become missionaries overseas. Their relationship quickly became a long-distance one after David headed to Egypt to learn Arabic and Shannon went to New Orleans to work for the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Hours of e-mail and telephone "chatting" brought them closer, and once David returned to the States it wasn't long before he proposed.
Spending frivolously is something the couple try to avoid, so Shannon was determined to not overspend while planning their wedding. But they were also determined to make it fun and creative. With Shannon's sense of style and her well-honed shopping skills—along with her family's considerable artistic talents—they created an affordable and unique affair.
