Rebecca and Michael  had never experienced love at first site—until they met at the chiropractor's office where Rebecca worked. But the romance didn't take off right away: neither Rebecca nor Michael thought the other would be interested because of their 10-year age difference. Still, they got to know each other as Michael came in for his weekly treatments, and soon they discovered they had a lot in common. When Michael finally asked Rebecca out, dating just confirmed the connection they'd felt all along.

Three years later, Michael decided to propose during a Cape Cod getaway. When a hurricane hit the coast, the couple was forced to arrive a day late. Michael wasn't deterred from his plan, but Rebecca, who had suspected he might propose that weekend, was convinced that he would be. "She was almost in tears because she thought I wasn't going to ask her," Michael says. So he simply knelt down and popped the question on the porch of the bed-and-breakfast where they were staying. "I couldn't see the ring because there were huge tears in my eyes," Rebecca says.

In lieu of traditional vows, the couple chose a handfasting ceremony for their wedding on the grounds of Sayen House & Gardens. At this New Age ritual, an officiant asks the bride and groom a series of unique questions such as, "Will you share each other's dreams?" After answering each one, a ribbon is draped across the couple's hands, symbolically binding them.
