Christina and Matt in Chicago, IL

College sweethearts marry in a Jazz Age–inspired affair

An exuberant Matt and Christina make their way up the aisle after exchanging vows in Chicago's St. Josaphat's Catholic Church. During the traditional service, the couple gave their mothers white calla lilies. "It was a way to recognize them as precious in our lives," says the bride.

It was love at first sight for Christina and Matt. Both were about to begin their freshman year at the University of Michigan, and their paths crossed at a get-together organized by Christina's soon-to-be roommate. The pair went on their first date the very next night. "I was so comfortable with him... it was like I had known him for years," Christina says.

The relationship developed quickly. "By the time I moved into my dorm, I knew she was the one," Matt says. But it wasn't until a few years after graduation that the couple became engaged. While Matt took Christina out to dinner one night, his friends set up his apartment with hundreds of candles, rose petals, and Champagne. The couple walked through the door, and Matt proposed. "It was even better than what I had imagined," Christina says.
