Angela and Leon in Minneapolis, MN

A sunset-hued fall wedding infused with song and spirit by the Mississippi River

The day's theme—"Orange-Colored Sky" (which was also the couple's song) is deliciously embodied in the buttercream-covered wedding cake outlined in candied orange slices, orange blossoms, and lemon leaves. Marzipan oranges cover the top tier.

No one would have blamed Angela Joy Brusegar for wanting to play the diva at her wedding. After all, she’d spent years working as a back-up vocalist for the likes of Chaka Khan and Jessica Simpson, all the while dreaming of a grand celebration peopled with everyone she’d ever known—should the right man come along. He finally did, in the form of M. Leon Seard, a doctor she met in her adopted city, Los Angeles. But when it came time to plan her hometown nuptials in Minneapolis, Angela Joy rethought her diva-esque dreams and realized that she wanted a more intimate (and affordable) affair.
