A pair of smitten photographers headed to the bride's Sierra Nevada hometown for a weekend of friends, fashion, and photo ops

When two wedding photographers get married, you can expect a good-looking celebration. But when KT Merry and Chad Keffer, both 27, decided to turn their four year romance into something more permanent, they focused on how the day would feel as much as how it would look. "I always see couples trying to cram everything in, and they don't enjoy themselves," says the bride. So the Miami-based pair invited just 75 guests to an entire June weekend at Lake Tahoe, where KT spent her childhood. The festivities included a bridal shower (KT wore her mom's reworked wedding dress), golf, and a sunset cruise. The ceremony took place at a waterfront park; the group then headed 10 miles east to party at a ranch owned by one of the bridesmaids. A few DIY-savvy loved ones had handcrafted backyard swings, a windowpane seating chart, and table runners, creating a homey vibe. "I wanted a picture-perfect day with all the details I love to shoot," says KT, who couldn't resist snapping a few shots of her own at the cocktail hour. More important, though, "I wanted a day we'd both remember forever." Turns out, she got both.
