Waterfall Braid Wedding Hairstyle

Throwing a destination wedding? Getting the hairstyle you want after long travels and in an unfamiliar locale is trickier than it would be if you were celebrating at home. Luckily, we asked Brides Live Wedding sponsor Neutrogena's hairstylist Sam Leonardi to reveal his expert tips and tricks to getting your tresses to travel in style — and how to beat foreign climate conditions such as excessive heat and humidity.

First thing's first: How to take all of your potions and lotions on the plane! Leonardi advises against travel-sized products. "It is important to choose products that are high quality and transfer them into travel-size friendly containers," Leonardi says. "It is also a great idea to use a clarifying shampoo two days before the wedding to ensure your hair is clean and light on the day."

As for varied weather conditions? "In humidity a soft up-do is usually best to keep both you and your hair looking cool," Leonardi suggests. "I also recommend using a humidity-proof hairspray to lock everything in place."

If you're a mountain-top bride, though, the conditions are more forgiving. "For mountain environments, since the air is cooler, you typically have more flexibility with the style. I recommend choosing a style that flatters your face shape and if you expect it is be windy on the day, select a style that is a bit more contained rather than loose curls."

Here are 17 destination wedding hairstyles to help you get inspired!
