Reem Acra shares the fairytales and myths that inspired her 2010 Spring bridal collection

Designers are frequently asked to explain the inspiration behind their collections. Sometimes there is a narrative story, sometimes a concrete element, sometimes a feeling or atmosphere or a note of something they’ve picked up along the way.

Reem Acra's Spring 2010 bridal collection was just plain inspired—in many senses of the word. The models floated down the runway last April, sprung from a world of myths, fairytales, storybook princesses. The dresses' light and airy look radiated something happy that could take a bride to another world—“once upon a time.”

"I think this collection in particular reflects the freshness of all these dreams," says Acra about the dreams little girls have to grow up to be princesses. "And I've made them into reality."

Here, the designer reveals inspiration boards behind the dresses from her collection. Take a page from her inspiration.
