The premise of the romantic comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, is certainly out-of-this-world—the story centers around the ghosts of three jilted girlfriends who visit committed bachelor Connor (Matthew McConaughey) on the day before his brother’s wedding. But when costume designer Denise Wingate went about putting together the looks for the movie, her approach was definitely down-to-earth. Rather than creating custom dresses and outfits just for the movie, she shopped like a real bride, dressing the characters in fashions created by bridal designers.
The result? Wingate turned to a mix of well-known bridal designers (like Amsale) and insider favorites (including Jenny Yoo and Jenny Lee) to create a beautiful wedding with a rich, jewel-toned palate.
