Our recap of the year in fashion

Elisabeth, Carolina Herrera

Soon after viewing Carolina Herrera's 's 2010 bridal collection, which was inspired by female artists, here's what Julie had to say on our blog: The styling was superb—adventurous and elegant—a rare combo that no one does better than Carolina Herrera. If it's possible, and I think it is, for a wedding gown to be described as "intelligent," then these were those.

This hand-painted silk fil coupe jacquard gown, an homage to 19th century French artist Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun, was definitely a jaw-dropper, as "intelligent" as it was devastatingly gorgeous.
