Six New Twists on the Classic French Manicure
The hottest nail trend gets a bridal upgrade.
The right nail color can take your wedding-day look to glamorous new heights. And though you may want to save the bevy of funky new nail art styles for your bachelorette party, adding pizzazz to a classic—the ever-elegant French manicure—offers the perfect compromise. It is always on-trend, has as much versatility as it has class, and guess what? Switching up the colors or materials (think appliqués and glitters), can make it feel brand new and oh-so you. Whether you want to add a little sparkle or a bold splash of color, our favorite new takes on the French mani are flattering, fun, and provide the perfect complement your engagement ring.
Not into nail art? The original French manicure is back in a big way, too. To make it feel more modern (and to avoid copping Snooki's look), opt for a short, rounded tip, use a very light pink or sheer nude as your base, and add just a sliver of white using a product like the Sally Hansen French Manicure Pen Kit ($13).
This lace-tipped look (shown at left) is the perfect partner for a gorgeous white wedding dress. To get this subtly sexy style, start with a coat of milky pink, then trim a slice of a lacy appliqué for the tip using curved scissors, says nail guru Deborah Lippmann.
