If Marchesa's Fall 2016 wedding dresses were all about ethereal elements blurring the light between dreams and reality, than the brand's Spring 2016 bridal collection is all about a "journey through a real, enchanted garden." Stunning, ethereal 3-D floral details were definitely in season at Marchesa's Spring 2017 bridal show, making for a wedding dress collection that felt like a real breath of fresh spring air.
"Ethereal, cascading blossom" — that was Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig's starting point for the spring 2017 bridal collection. The theme trickled down from the beaded 3-D florals to the blush colors subtly infused in light airy gowns.
Marchesa's wedding dresses are always ready to impress and make a bridal statement, and this collection was no different. Flourishing rosebuds and blossoming florals, adorned with crystals and pearls, decorated the mostly ethereal gowns (a nod to morning mist atop petals in a meadow according to the brand). Continuing the spring time garden theme were rosy ombres (one of our favorite trends) and dip-dyed blushes. Keeping things lightweight, blush and nude tones of tulle were layered under ball gowns — creating gowns with a subtle fullness. Detachable skirts have been on the rise in the bridal world, and here they were given the 3-D organza rose and hand-cut petal treatment. The brand also showed detachable peplums decorated in French Chantilly lace — we love this alternative to a full detachable skirt! Plunging necklines full decorated in organza 3-D cutouts are a treat for brides getting married in 2017.
Silk satin ribbons added a majestic touch to cinched waists, while gorgeous drop earrings created a dramatic look. For beauty, Marchesa kept things simple and classic with a low braid tucked under the hair, creating a low bun. Makeup was kept natural and minimal, a perfect choice to keep the focus on the gorgeously intricate gowns.
