Anna Maier on her Spring 2014 collection:

"I have been thinking about this statement for some time. I kept coming back to the word edit. I couldnt get comfortable with the word, because my overriding feeling about the concept of editing was deleting something. That was not what I was doing; I was editing thousands of things and creating something...until I researched the word, I didnt realize that the first three definitions of the word were about preparing, adapting or compiling. It was the fourth that expressed elimination or deletion. I found satisfaction in the first three.

Thousands of images, both live and in media, fed this collection; some were from long ago and some of the moment. From them I could capture a mood, a line or a complexity. I drew on my mood and point of view to organize them, add to them, and shape them.

I work with hundreds of brides each season. I show them my work; I fit them; I experience them as they evolve their imagination into their reality. I add this imagination and reality to my edits.

With all that said, as I edit, I work to articulate my imagination. It is an imagination that could be seen as a movie of perfect images and perfect moments. It is a complex imagination of what can be.

With this collection I imagined timeless beauty and sensuality. I imagined a breadth of finishes that could be only realized across many fabrics. I wanted the depth and complexity that could only be found mixing materials and techniques. The effort became significant and what we show is our edit. This compilation is our edit, it is our Collection 40.
