Cathy Tedone
Shortly after Cathy Tedone became engaged to Brad Newman she began her quest to find the perfect dress for their wedding on Brickell Key, a small island off the coast of Miami. It wasn’t until she visited Sasparilla, one of South Beach’s best high-fashion vintage shops, that she found what she was looking for. The dress, by popular ‘60s and ‘70s Greek designer George Stavropoulos, was a floor-length ivory lace sheath with a distinctly Greco-Roman feel. To make the dress a bit more body conscious, Cathy turned to her friend, designer Ema Koja of Ema Savahl, who fashioned a corset-like garment to cinch in the waist without altering the dress’s original cut. Hair and makeup artist Kat O’Shea gave Cathy a natural look, applying minimal makeup, adding false eyelashes and sweeping her hair into a high updo secured with seashell clips, made by her groom, Brad.
