Wedding Cake Inspiration
"A close friend of mine from South Asia gave me sari as part of our wedding
gift," says Laura Lourenco, 31, a marketer. "My fiancé and I thought the pattern
on the fabric was gorgeous, and we wanted to incorporate it into the wedding
somehow." Their baker, Elizabeth Hodes, of Elizabeth Hodes Custom Cakes & Sugar Art, hand-embossed the sari pattern onto fondant and then hand-painted it with edible gold leaf. A few sugar orchids completed the look.
