A: You can't, unless you want to risk appearing ungrateful. But since wedding gifts tend to be both fragile and valuable, most of your guests will ideally do the right thing and ship them to you ahead of time. If they don't, and some folks show up with presents in hand, ask your venue's coordinator if the gifts can be stowed safely during the party (some venues may not take responsibility for lost or stolen items). Then ask someone trustworthy (like your maid of honor or the best man) to store the gifts until you return from the honeymoon.
Q: Can we spread the word that we don't want gifts brought to the reception? We're off to the airport first thing the next morning, and our parents' cars will probably be too crammed with all of our personal stuff to fit a lot of boxes and bags in the trunks.
