Q: No one has offered to give me a shower. Can I host my own?

A: Since most bridal showers are a surprise, it's likely that one is already in the works. But no matter what's being planned, under no circumstances should you, or an immediate relative (like a mother or sister) throw the party. The purpose of a shower is for guests to "shower" you with gifts—issuing the invitation yourself is tantamount to demanding presents. You can drop a couple of hints to your attendants, but otherwise your only choice is to wait and see.
