A: Think small. Everything from the table and chairs to the food and decor needs to be tailored to the mini-me gang. If your reception site doesn't have kid-size furniture, rent it (or pick up cheapies from a local discount store). The children's table should be set up toward the back of the room, so the kids can get in and out of their seats without disturbing adult guests. Hiring a baby-sitter or putting a teenager in charge is a must. For decor, keep in mind that little hands like to grab whatever is in front of them, so forgo candles or centerpieces that require water. Create child-friendly decorations like bouquets of floral-shaped cookies or lollipops, and use paper tablecloths, which are perfect for doodling. You can also provide goodie bags filled with crayons, coloring books, puzzles and games. When it comes to food, opt for kiddie favorites like pizza and grilled-cheese sandwiches.
