Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson are one of the most photogenic (and affectionate) couples we've ever seen walk the red carpet. Effusive in emotion and easy on the eyes, it's been a foregone conclusion for years that they'd one day get married. Earlier this year, the couple endured particularly rampant marriage rumors. But the former Dawson's Creek star told Glamour in its latest issue the real reason why all the talk is just that — for now.
"I can tell you why we're not married: We're not religious. I don't feel any more or less committed to Diane for not having stood in front of a priest and had a giant party," Jackson, who currently stars in the Showtime series The Affair, told the magazine. "We're both children of divorce, so it's hard for me to take marriage at face value as the thing that shows you've grown up and are committed to another person. But it may change at some point. We may get married."
That kind of "maybe we will one day" sentiment echoes what he told Us Weekly in June 2012. "Marriage is important for the people it's important for, but neither one of us is particularly religious, so I don't think there's any particular push," he said at the time. "But never say never! I don't know."
If the couple of eight years seems ambivalent about tying the knot one day, their commitment is undeniable. He credits the The Bridge actress with making him dress like a grown-up, while she has been outspoken about his support as a boyfriend.
Plus, little Kruger-Jacksons may well walk the planet before too long. In 2012, Jackson told Us he'd love to be a father. "I mean, I'm at that age," he said.
Here's hoping their ambivalence turns into a marriage — we'd love to see the wedding dress that fashion maven Kruger picks!
