There are so many reasons why a braided bun is just plain gorgeous. It's classic and polished, yet the braid makes it slightly bohemian. It's fuss-free since your hair is pulled back, and at the same time, the plaited sides make it feel extra special. Not to mention the textured tresses make it extremely romantic, making it a great option for your wedding hairstyle.
Turns out, it's a lot easier to create a braided bun than you'd think. Thanks to our expert how-to hair video, you can now DIY a braided bun for your own big day. And if doing it yourself isn't your thing, this tutorial is still a great resource to help explain to your hairstylist exactly what you'd like for your wedding.

In the video, hairstylist Matt Fugate walks you through braiding your hair into a bun. First step is to create a deep side part. Then, you're going to want to create a half moon shape and start braiding tightly — you can always go back later and loosen up the braid if you want to. You'll want to continue braiding until the nape of your neck, at which point you'll tie the braid with an elastic. Then gather all of your hair into a low ponytail at the back of your head in the center. The way you choose to do your bun is up to you: You can sweep your locks around in a loosely draped bun, or you can keep the braid going and wrap that around. The choice is yours!
