For as much as we all want to look amazing in our wedding dress — we want to look just as hot once that gown comes off, right? Luckily, the right combo of nutrition and exercise can get you there. New York City trainer and co-founder of ModelFIT, Justin Gelband shares his secrets for looking beautiful in the buff.
"85 percent of how you look is what you eat, so nutrition is key to a healthy, happy, sexy naked body," says Gelband. Moderation — not starvation! — is the goal. Your body needs food as its energy source and "a lack of minerals, nutrients and vitamins causes weakness and lack of digestion," he says. Start your day with a light, protein-rich breakfast, and continue to eat consistently throughout the day — this will help eliminate the temptation to binge. Aim to finish eating by 8 p.m., and limit yourself to two cheat meals a week. Focus on lean proteins and veggies, and eliminate heavy sauces, pasta, and excessive desserts. Another tip: Try to eat foods warm (i.e. broiled, steamed, grilled) as much as possible — they'll be easier to digest, says Gelband. And if you're really looking to customize your diet to your body, he recommends checking out The Blood Type Diet, which tailors your nutrition to your blood type.
Aim toincorporate something active, for a minimum of 30 minutes, into your day, every day. Your best bets are workouts that get your heart rate up and work your entire body, says Gelband. And don't do the same thing every day! Gelband recommends mixing it up, alternating between things like Pilates, boxing, cardio, functional training, stretching, and light weights. And on those days when you feel like skipping the gym, take a 20 to 30 minute walk with your fiancé, or better yet, hit the bedroom. Gelband says, "Sex is exercise and it actually burns more calories then most activities." Now, that's a workout plan we can get excited about!
