The Office creator and dry-humorist extraordinaire Ricky Gervais' new film The Invention of Lying hits theaters today and surprisingly has a wedding twist. You may have noticed in the previews that Jennifer Garner is spotted in a wedding dress! Well I can't tell you who she marries or if they even go through with the wedding, but I can tell you a few key details about the dress from costume designer Susie DeSanto who designed the dress Garner's character Anna wears in the film.
"The world in The Invention of Lying is one where everyone can only tell the absolute truth. We applied that premise to the costumes of the film by creating styles with clean lines, simple or no patterns and without embellishment or frills," says Susie. "For Jennifer Garner's character's wedding dress I designed a dress hat prescribes to that concept drawing inspiration from the shorter wedding dresses of the 1950's, like the one worn by Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face. The dress made of ivory silk file has a simple deep v-neckline, cinched waist with bow on the belt and deep pleated full skirt."
As for the accessories, Susie paired the dress with a short veil and a classic pump by Christian Louboutin. "It's completely flattering in its simplicity and expresses the sweetness of Jen's character."
