When it comes to planning one-on-one trip time with your husband, your mind may wander to a sunbathing on a Caribbean cruise or scarfing down pizza in a crowded Italian piazza. But let's be honest: our budgets don't always let us take those kinds of escapes, even for events like a second honeymoon. You can still "get away" from it all in your own home, though, with a little creativity and one of these awesome ideas!
Cook up a destination for dinner.
Just because you can't go to Mexico doesn't mean you can't bring the country into your kitchen. Head to the library and check out a book with killer fajita recipes — or an Italian chef's delicious guide, if you're craving a trip along the Almafi Coast — and whip up your dream destination buffet style. Up the romance factor you'd find on a second honeymoon by eating by candlelight — or bring dessert into the bedroom!
If you dream of sleeping beneath Yosemite's glittering stars, you can still get your nighttime gaze on — from your backyard! Go all out and pitch a tent, build a fire and cook s'mores, then use a stargazing app to take in the stars you can see and those you can't. When it's time to head into the tent, keep each other warm sans sleeping bag (wink, wink)!
Relax in your own spa.
Nab aromatherapy oils, bath salts, body scrubs and any other luxurious and deliciously-scented spa product you can buy, then slip into a bubble bath drawn for two. Ban work talk as you soak to keep things sexy. Then, take turns giving one another massages, or spring for a massage therapist who makes house calls!
Take a tour — on your computer.
Several museums you're dying to see in person — think the Smithsonian Natural History Museum and the Louvre in Paris — offer virtual tours you can take anytime, from any internet connection. So sit down with your spouse and walk through the world's most beloved collections, then discuss your favorite finds over a glass of wine.
