When Conor and Claire Flynn sat down for their wedding reception at Ferrycarrig Hotel in Wexford, Ireland, they probably assumed their wedding party and family would start the celebration with a round of toasts. But 18 of their incredibly thoughtful guests shocked the newlyweds with a very special gift the newlyweds never expected.
In full flash mob style, wedding guests from around the room, including the groom's two brothers, stood up to serenade the happy newlyweds with their own rendition of "Seasons Of Love" from the hit Broadway musical Rent.
In the video posted to YouTube, the guests show they have some serious vocal chops. Aside from hitting incredibly hard high-notes, their timing, passion, and choreographed moves make this touching tribute even more special. According to the Gorey Guardian, an Irish publication, Conor's twin brother Michael, the best man, planned the impressive feat.
Organizing a flash mob of this caliber would be understandably difficult under even the best of circumstances, but the publication reports that, because guests were traveling from across Ireland, there was not a single rehearsal in advance. "No one else knew it was happening," Michael said. "Claire and Conor certainly did not have a clue."
To pull off the performance, Michael enlisted his and Conor's older brother, Dave, to hit the high notes for the male solo, while Jane Kent, performed the main female role. Other guests were asked to practice the song on their own, and were prepared to join in on their cue.
Towards the end of the video, the camera finally pans around to the happy couple, where they appear completely awestruck and are smiling from ear to ear.
We can hardly believe that this incredibly talented group of guests performed such a challenging song with so little practice, but hats off for a job very well done!
