It's common wisdom that sticking to New Year's resolutions is no easy feat — so why not register for items that can help make your 2017 goals attainable? This year, my husband and I each have our own New Year's resolutions, but we also have a few we made together — it is definitely easier when you have a partner holding your feet to the fire! Here are our six of our joint resolutions, and the registry items that will totally make these doable.
1. Exercise More Together
Before our wedding we were both exercising a lot, but in the year after it has been a bit of a challenge to find the time. So we are committing to working out at least twice a week together. We registered for yoga gear so we would never have an excuse not to work out, even at home. (Yoga mat and bag, $27.99, Picnic at Ascot available at Zola)
2. Become Morning People
Another resolution is to become morning people! Since our wedding, my husband's favorite gift has been our Vitamix, and so we are trying to make a big batch of smoothies once a week that we can have for breakfast. ("Ascent Series A2300" blender, $449.99, Vitamix available at Zola)
3. Host More
Now that it is colder, we are staying inside more and so another resolution is to have people over for dinner. I love one pot meals, so am happy we registered for a big dutch oven, so we can make a big soup or stew and invite friends to join us. (Round cocotte dutch oven, starting at $189.99, Staub available at Zola)
4. Savor The Moment
Another big resolution is to savor the moment more. We make so many memories and take so many photos, so I am excited to have a place for all our keepsakes — not just on my phone. A special memory box is something we can keep adding to for many years. (Wooden Box, $94.99, Artifact Uprising available at Zola)
5. See Our Friends More
In addition to hosting, a more general resolution of ours is to see friends more. Since so many of our buddies are getting married, sometimes we don't get a chance to just casually hang out with them. Stopping by with a fun hostess gift is a great way to turn a drop by into a little party, especially when there are cocktails involved. ("Shake" cocktail recipe book, $24.99, W&P Design available at Zola)
6. Stay Tidy
You would think that living in a 450-square foot apartment would mean we were well organized, but sadly we are not. Our space can quickly look cluttered, so perhaps our biggest resolution is to stay tidy. These baskets help hide bits and bobbles, so they don't become an eyesore. (Water hyacinth storage baskets, set of two for $79.99, Design Ideas available at Zola)
