We've all seen couples who concoct creative ways to involve their dog in their wedding. But this one truly takes the cake! Maria and Damir's 3-year-old Airedale terrier, Clyde, is so loved by the newlyweds that he made a surprise appearance at the bride's shower this past March. The masterminds behind this adorable confection (just look at that face!) were Maria's sister-in-law and Pink Cake Box owner Anne Heap. "This cake was definitely fun to make," says Heap of the three-tier Tiffany box–inspired creation featuring a tuxedo-clad Clyde. The vanilla cake was filled with hazelnut Frangelico buttercream and covered in rolled fondant. "I had a picture of the couple's dog in a tuxedo—so it wasn't too hard to imagine! I molded the dog out of Rice Krispies treats and then covered him in icing and a fondant tuxedo. The most difficult part was keeping his frosting fur from getting on his collar!" Even the cupcake toppers were edible, says Heap of the miniature sugar-paste bride and groom Airedale terriers. Read more about the cake in Heap's blog.
In case you were wondering, Clyde did make a live appearance at their Manhattan wedding in May.
"We tried to incorporate him as much as we could," says the bride. "He got dressed with the groom and groomsmen, and after the ceremony when we walked out of the church he was standing on the steps in his tux with the entire bridal party." —Anna Pezik
