Well, that's awkward! During a trip to Hawaii over the holidays, President Obama's tee time accidentally derailed one military couple's plans to get married this past Sunday on the 16th tee box at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course, ABC News reports.
The two Army captains, Natalie Heimel and Edward Mallue Jr., who are currently stationed in Hawaii, chose to get married on the military-run golf course which Obama himself has frequented during his vacation (he's played five rounds in 10 days!), and the 16th hole is apparently a famed spot to get hitched. With such short notice the bride and groom had to move their "I dos" to a lawn on the base commander's home overlooking the tee. After that, they received a phone call from the President sending both his apologies and congratulations.

"Listen, congratulations on your wedding," Obama said during the call. "I feel terrible. Nobody told us and had they mentioned they were going to have a wedding on the 16th hole we would have skipped the 16th hole. But I hope the wedding went OK anyway."
"It did. Thank you very much. It was a blessing in disguise," the groom responded.
They explained they moved right above the sixteenth hole and joked that during the vow exchange they watched the Commander in Chief golf. "Well, that must've been kind of painful," Obama hilariously replied. The couple also invited Obama to attend their reception: "We have an open bar!" the bride boasted.
All-in-all, despite the last-minute changes, it sounds like they now have a memory to last a lifetime. Watch the whole conversation above!
