Guys. We're in the final countdown until Pippa Middleton ties the knot with her honey, hedge fund manager James Matthews. How many days until May 20, 2017, again? Is anyone else losing it? Deep breaths, you guys, deep breaths… Although Pippa doesn't possess a monarchy title like her big sis, the Duchess of Cambridge, with all the pomp and circumstance surrounding her big day, we're expecting nothing short of a royal wedding extravaganza from this socialite. And what comes with that is often a price tag to match. Here's what Pippa Middleton's wedding budget probably looks like, and if you didn't want to be royal already (or at least royally related), you will after seeing these staggering digits!
According to the New York Daily News, a U.K. wedding-planning website called Bridebook broke down Pippa's possible big-day budget, and it's reminding us why everyone doesn't just have a royalty-worthy wedding: It costs so damn much! It's estimated that the bride and groom are dropping as much as $320,113 on their nuptials.
Remember, after surveying countless brides-to-be and newlyweds, Brides estimated that the average overall wedding cost to be between $26,000 and $28,000, meaning that Pippa's budget is over 12 times as much as the average couple spends!
So where is all this cash going? Well, for one thing, a gown that could compete with her big sister's famous Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress sure doesn't come cheap. Pippa is rumored to be wearing a custom creation by designer Giles Deacon—a dress that could run as high as $13,000.
And that doesn't even include the accessories! The Daily News reports that Pippa has tapped Stephen Jones for a veil to complete her wedding day look—with an estimated $2,590 price tag. Yikes.
As for some of the other big-day details, their price tags have us clutching our pearls. Any bride-to-be could tell you that flowers cost a pretty penny. Well, with luxury florist Lavender Green in charge of the blooms, Pippa's allegedly cost about $20,700. (That's a lot of pennies.…) The stationery—including menus, invitations, ceremony programs…—is also setting the couple back about $6,600.
The largest chunk of the wedding budget (TBH, can you really call this a budget?) will probably go to wedding rings—a diamond-encrusted ring for Pippa and a platinum wedding band for the groom by Cartier, which are said to be costing the couple $26,000. And finally, like most weddings, the day will end with the newlyweds slicing into a wedding cake—a casual six tiers of cake to be exact, with a $3,360 price tag.
That's a lot of cake.
