It may be March, but today I woke up to snow falling outside the window of my New York City apartment. I reached for a dark lipstick, dressed in mostly black clothes, and headed out the door "ready" to face another freezing day. If this sounds familiar, your makeup routine might be a victim of the dreary winter weather. To help you switch things up the moment the weather warms up—or really any time before that finally happens—we asked Pinterest to reveal the most popular spring beauty trends that people are already searching for.
1. Mauve Makeup
According to Pinterest, mauve is the new pink. While rose gold has reigned supreme recently, this more muted hue will soon be taking over your beauty routine, including your lipstick and eye shadow. Mauve shadow, when used to create a smoky eye or cut crease, will add a warm, glow-y effect to your overall complexion. And once you have your dramatic eye look down, you'll probably want to use a more subtle lipstick. Mauve makes it easy to achieve that "your-lips-but-better" effect on any skin tone.
2. Blue Lipstick
It seems like every new lipstick collection includes a shade of blue, whether it's NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils or the new Legendary Liquid Lip Pigments that Smashbox and Vlada Haggerty just debuted. M.A.C.'s Colourrocker Collection even includes four shades of blue ranging from "Instant Icon," a light aqua, to "Matte Royal," a deep blue.
Of course, blue can still be intimidating even with so many options out there—no one wants to end up looking like a smurf. "People can get scared of [blue lipstick] because it can easily look cheap and garish," makeup artist Nick Barose, who works with Lupita Nyong'o, told Allure last summer. "So it's all about layering different pigments on top of your lipstick to give the final color some depth and richness." Adding gloss over your lipstick will keep it from looking too flat, he explains.
3. Tinted Moisturizer
Athleisure has already taken over the fashion crowd and now the trend is quietly entering our makeup routines—I mean, just look at all the gym-bag essentials Tarte recently released. While tinted moisturizer isn't exactly new, it is up 50 percent in search. Pinterest expects people will start using it even more, especially instead of traditional foundation, for a more natural look this spring.

4. Mauve Nails
Mauve isn't just for your makeup or your hair. The most popular way to try this color trend is actually with a pretty manicure. According to Pinterest, searches for mauve nails are up 170 percent. And while you might associate spring with bright neon or pastel colors, this season's hue of choice is more muted, making it the perfect transitional trend to try before it actually feels hot outside.
is the most popular polish on Pinterest, so if you haven't tried it yet—it's time.

5. Bronze Makeup
Don't get us wrong. We're big fans of incorporating daring colors into your makeup routine, like red and yellow eye shadow. But on Pinterest, people are searching for more neutral tones for a fresh spring look. Perhaps we'll compromise and pair a bronze shimmery eye with bright blue lipstick? Or, if you're going for more of a no-makeup look, use a bronzer—we're big fans of the new Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Color Bronze + Glow—to sculpt your face.
6. Brown Lipstick
This '90s-inspired lipstick trend is still going strong, with a 20 percent search increase on Pinterest. It's best paired with an oversize flannel worn over a crop top with high-waisted jeans. But be warned—brown lipstick, which is flattering on every single skin tone—may revive your obsession with other '90s products. Bring on the butterfly clips and hair crimpers.
