Lucia Sessions faced every bride's worst nightmare: When she arrived in Orkney, Scotland where she was planning to get married, her luggage — which included her wedding dress, wedding accessories, everything! — went missing! The worst part? She had less than 24 hours to completely re-outfit her bridal look. Luckily, like all good wedding stories lately, the bride's hotel stepped in by using social media to help.
Posting an urgent plea on Facebook, the hotel where the soon-to-be-newylweds were staying wrote: "A Request for help!! We have a couple staying with us who are due to get married tomorrow afternoon — Their luggage has gone missing in transit, and she has no wedding dress, no wedding shoes, no wedding anything! Is there anyone that might be able to lend any of the above for an afternoon? The lady is 5ft tall and a uk size 8. She wears a size 7.5 shoe. If you can help, please message us here, email us on firstname.lastname@example.org or phone us on 872232. Thanks."
Within 10 minutes, responses came rolling in, until, the bride had an entire big-day outfit to say "I do" in. And after 400 comments and 200 shares, *Mashable *reports that The Kirkwall Hotel posted that the bride was all sorted out.
As you can imagine after such an attention-grabbing campaign to get this couple, who were eloping from Seattle, taken care of, the hotel was swarmed with requests for photos. After posting a few they also posted a video of the bride giving her thanks.
"I'm really grateful for the dress that fit, but I would've been honored to wear any of your gorgeous dresses I know they tell the story of your life and it's a story I will share too," Lucia says in her thank you video.
Word to the wise: If you're throwing a destination wedding, you should probably carry on your dress and all of your wedding-day accessories!
