Every season, it's the same: During the season finale of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, Neil Lane arrives with a tray of dazzling diamond engagement rings for the suitor (or suitors, depending on the season) to select from and, ultimately, propose with. What we do not expect to be the same from season to season, though, are the rings that Lane is bringing to the table. But as it turns out, the stunning engagement ring that the most recent Bachelor, Nick Viall, got down on one knee with had already made its national television debut—because Robby Hayes picked out the exact same ring for JoJo Fletcher on Season 12 of The Bachelorette.
The ring in question features 3.75 carats of diamonds, including a massive round center stone that is surrounded by a halo of smaller diamonds, bordered by two baguette-cut diamonds, and a total of 164 round-cut diamonds throughout the band. "I just closed my eyes and just envisioned her beautiful face," Nick Viall told People about picking the ring for Vanessa Grimaldi. "I knew immediately which one was perfect for her."
It was also, apparently, perfect for JoJo—at least, in Robby's mind. One astute Bachelor Nation fan pointed out the similarities on Instagram, and then People confirmed that it was the exact same ring. But, as devout fans of the series know, Robby never got the chance to propose with the ring, as JoJo selected Jordan Rodgers instead.
"I bring six rings, and over the years, over the nine years, some are the same, some have changed settings or are redesigned, and some are totally new," Neil Lane said to People. "The most important thing is for a ring to speak to the particular man and to the woman he is in love with. If a ring doesn't speak to one person, then it wasn't meant to be. If that particular ring wasn't meant to find a home with JoJo but rather spoke to Nick and Vanessa, then that's the way it should be. It's found its home."
