Marc Anthony wed model Shannon de Lima in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday afternoon, but the details of their big day were kept relatively quiet. For a day, at least. Luckily for us, Univision's Despierta América, a Spanish-language morning show, got exclusive access to the romantic event, and dished on all the details of their beach wedding.
While we already knew that the pair tied the knot at Casa de Campo in front of about 100 guests (Despierta América is reporting 120 attendees witness their nuptials), reporter Orlando Segura says that each and every friend and family member had to give up their cellphone upon arrival at the all-white bash. The bride-to-be donned a tight V-neck wedding dress (which, based on the flower replica of her gown seen below, was a form-fitting mermaid style with plenty of embellishment).
Their vows were reportedly very meaningful and emotional. When De Lima reached Anthony at the altar, he reportedly whispered in her ear and she was so overcome with emotion that their officiant, Ivelisse Guerrero, had to stop for several minutes until she could contain her tears.
As we expected, the event was extremely family-oriented. De Lima's son, Carlos, acted as the couple's ring bearer and the bride was escorted down the aisle by her uncle. Once the couple was pronounced husband and wife the party really started — their first kiss was made even more special when they released dozens of golden butterflies behind them!
Their reception was filled with plenty of excitement, too. They shared their first dance to live music from Dominican superstar Juan Luis Guerra and had additional performances from Carlos Vives to keep guests on the dance floor all evening long. And when they weren't dancing, they were dining on a lavish meal of fresh fish and lobster along with traditional Venezuelan, Puerto Rican, and Dominican dishes.
It sounds like an unforgettable wedding!
