Choosing a wedding location was a bit of a conundrum for Carissa and Brian because the bride, an Orange County-based floral designer, had worked at most of the venues in the area. "I wanted to find somewhere new and unique," Carissa says. When designing the flowers for a wedding held at a private residence in Malibu, she knew she'd found the perfect place. "We wanted the reception to feel like an upscale but intimate party at a summerhouse on the coast," she says of their oceanfront venue. Carissa's bouquet was comprised entirely of white phalaenopsis orchids. The cocktail party-style reception was held in the same place as the ceremony and began immediately following the recessional. Instead of signing a traditional guest book, friends and family wrote notes on postcards and hung them from a tree. The bride's mother then gathered the cards and mailed them to the couple throughout their first year of marriage. Read more about this couple's real wedding here.
