Former reality star Kristin Cavallari has had her personal life in the spotlight ever since her Laguna Beach days, but since she and her Chicago Bears quarterback husband Jay Cutler tied the knot, she's managed to keep her adorable family out of the press. Finally, after stepping away from the reality spotlight, Cavallari is opening up on her private life, specifically how she and Cutler make their marriage work.
"I'm very honest about the fact that we have problems," Cavallari told Entertainment Tonight. "We don't have a perfect relationship" — evidenced by the fact that these two ended up taking an unorthodox path down the alter. Cutler and Cavallari were together for eight months when Cutler popped the question, but a few months later the wedding was off. "At that moment, something wasn't right," Cavallari wrote in her new book, Balancing in Heels. "A few things needed to change, and I knew the only way Jay would see how serious I was, was if I ended the relationship."
Cavallari's cold feet were definitely telling her something and for her relationship's sake, it sounds like it's a good thing she listened. "At the time, I thought, 'I'd rather figure it out now than further down the line, after we get married, and have kids, and it blows up in our face,'" she said. "That was a risk that I was willing to take when I cut off the engagement."
